Welcome to Achiltibuie Angling
Wild Brown Trout Fishing in the Scottish Highlands
The Coigach peninsula with Inverpolly and Assynt to the north is an area peppered with fresh water lochs, each with its own individual characteristics. Set amongst the iconic hills of the north west highlands these lochs are popular with anglers from around the country.
Achiltibuie Angling Club manages 7 of these lochs on the Coigach peninsula and permits are readily available. There is a good stock of hard fighting wild brownies in the lochs with fish up to 2lbs to be had. Some of the lochs are beside the road while the furthest is a walk of about 1.5 miles from a suitable parking place.
Fishing is by fly only with one exception. Details are on the permits page.
The lochs are covered by a Fishery Protection Order, so fishing without a permit is an offence.
Achiltibuie is the main settlement on the Coigach peninsula with a number of other villages close by. This is part of the Assynt – Coigach National scenic area and is bounded to the south by The Wester Ross Marine Protected Area.
The iconic mountains of Suilven, Stac Pollaidh and Ben Mor Coigach dominate the inland views while the Summer Isles lie scattered across the seascape.
